FARGO, ND – Force goaltender Ryan Bischel and defenseman Ryan Carmichael have committed to play college hockey at the University of Notre Dame.
Bischel ranks second all-time among Force goalie with a career goals-against average of 2.23, fourth all-time in save percentage (.915) and shutouts (3), seventh in wins (22), and ninth in minutes played (2491).
The Medina, Minnesota native went 15-8-1 in 29 games for the Force last season while putting up a .920 save percentage and a 2.24 goals-against average. Bischel shut out opponents three times in 2017-18.
Bischel was named USHL goalie of the week last November and won a silver medal with Team USA at the World Junior A Challenge in Truro, Nova Scotia last December. Bischel won a Clark Cup with Fargo last year.
Carmichael is in his first season with the Force and first in the USHL after spending the last four seasons with the Brunswick School in Connecticut. In 128 games for the Bruins, the Greenwich, CT native scored 67 (15-52-67) points.
Carmichael was drafted by the Force in the 14th Round of the 2018 USHL Entry Draft last May. He played in both games of the USHL Fall Classic but did not tally a point.
The Force open their home schedule this weekend with a two-game series against the Sioux Falls Stampede at Scheels Arena. Puck drop for both Friday and Saturday night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
