The Fargo Force have acquired forward Mitchell Chaffee from the Bloomington Thunder in exchange for forward Christiano Versich and forward Kevin O’Neil from the Madison Capitols in exchange for forward Jeff Losurdo.
“We are excited to add Mitch and Kevin to our Force locker room,” said Head Coach Cary Eades. “These guys add different ingredients to our mix of forwards, and they give us increased depth up front as we make our final push to the playoffs in these last 6 weeks of the season.
Chaffee, out of Rockford, MI, is in his second season in the USHL spending his entire career thus far in Bloomington. Last season, Chaffee tallied 13 points in 54 games for the Thunder and has 11 points in 35 games with the Thunder this season. Chaffee is committed to UMass-Amherst. Chaffee will wear jersey #21 for the Force.
“Chaffee is a 2 year veteran in the USHL and is a big body who plays hard with and without the puck,” said Eades. “He's very good in the corners and gets to the opponents net front with authority.”
O’Neil, out of Cohoes, NY is in his first season in the USHL and has scored 24 points in 43 games for the Capitols. O’Neil is committed to play college hockey at Yale University following his junior hockey career. O’Neil will wear jersey #13 for the Force.
“O'Neil impressed us in his recent visit to Fargo as a member of the Capitols,” added Eades. “He is a headsy player with good speed and stick skills. He should be able to help add to our offensive production.”
Chaffee and O’Neil will join the Force this week and travel with the team to Tri-City this weekend for a two game series versus the Storm. The Force return to Scheels Arena on March 10th and 12th for games against Cedar Rapids and Sioux Falls. Tickets are available at the Scheels Arena box office Monday through Friday from 11am-6pm, online at tickets300.com or by calling 701.364.3672.
