The Fargo Force fell 1-0 against the Green Bay Gamblers, in the first game of the weekend series in front of a sold out crowd of 4,778 at Scheels Arena.

The first period was a defensive clash and remained scoreless through the first 20 minutes of play. Green Bay led shots on goal through one, 9-8.

Neither team could gain the advantage in the second period. Matt Murray, playing his 36th game in goal, stopped 24 shots through the first two periods.

“I have to credit Matt Murray, he played an outstanding game,” said Head Coach Cary Eades. “I thought they out-chanced us and without him we would have lost two or three to nothing.”

Fargo and Green Bay battled, taking the scoreless draw deep into the third period. At 14:33, Green Bay broke the tie, giving them a 1-0 lead. Nolan Moyle tallied his fourth goal of the season with assists by Dante Palecco and Chris Grando. The Gamblers held the Force for the final minutes of the game, to capture the 1-0 win.

“We have to play well over the 60 minutes and give yourself the best chance to win,” said Eades.

Fargo moves to 6-4-0 in their last 10 games and 10-9-1 at home this season. Green Bay moves to 1-4-2 in there last seven road games and improving to 21-16-4 on the season.

The Fargo Force face off against the Green Bay Gamblers for the second game of the weekend series Saturday, February 11 at 7:05 p.m. at Scheels Arena.
