The Fargo Force have acquired defenseman Jere Astren from the Chicago Steel for future considerations.
Astren, from Helsinki, Finland, is a 20 year old defenseman in his first season in the USHL. He’s posted three points in 25 games played thus far with the Steel in 15-16. Prior to coming to the USHL, he played in 41 regular season games for Jokerit U20 in the Jr. A SM-liiga league in Finland, scoring five goals and 15 assists for 20 points, while adding 84 penalty minutes. Astren is committed to play college hockey at the University of Wisconsin next fall.
“We’re excited to acquire Jere, a mature and mobile defenseman, from Chicago”, said head coach Cary Eades. “He has good size, defends well and makes a good first pass. He will add veteran presence to our blue line.”
Astren will be eligible to join the Force roster for the next game on New Year’s Eve this Thursday, Dec. 31 as the team faces the Des Moines Buccaneers at Scheels Arena at 6:05 PM. He will wear jersey #24.
