The United States Hockey League announced that Fargo Force forward Denis Smirnov has been named CCM Co-Forward of the Week. This is the second time that he has received player of the week honors for the 2015-16 season.

Smirnov posted a total of five points over the weekend to help propel the Force to a sweep of Team USA on the road. In Friday’s game Smirnov earned a hat trick in the team’s come from behind win. Smirnov’s first goal of the night came in the second period to make it a 4-2 game in favor of Team USA. He then added two more goals in the third period which resulted in Fargo claiming a 5-4 win. On Saturday night the Force scored four first period goals with Smirnov assisting two of them. The strong first period resulted in a 4-2 win for the Force.

Smirnov leads the Fargo Force in scoring this season with 17 total points (6g, 11a). He has appeared in all 16 games the Force have played this season. Smirnov is committed to Penn State University following his junior hockey career.
