Back to Back Goals Lead to Force Victory

By Liz Knisley, 09/11/15, 10:15PM CDT

Tonight at Scheels Arena the Fargo Force earned a tough win over Salzburg Austria’s EC Red Bull U20 team. The first period was a fast, physical period with each team racking up 3 penalties apiece.  The Force scored two goals in the first period; the first scored by

Collin Appleton, assisted by Tim Faulkner at 10:50. The second goal of the game was scored by #27 Jake McLaughlin assisted by Appleton with a minute to go in the first.

The second period and beginning of the third played out a little differently with EC Red Bull’s Michal Juscak scoring an unassisted goal at 15:04 in the second followed by a goal from EC Red Bull’s #2 Christoph Körner, assisted by Patrik Kittinger at 4:50 in the third. Fargo Force Head Coach Cary Eades, commented on EC Red Bull’s ability to play with speed and good puck movement causing the Force to make a handful of mistakes causing them to lose the lead. However, the Force fought back with back to back goals, the first from Christian Cakebread, assisted by Cole Gallant and the second by Reid Murphy, assisted by Jack Adams and Colin Burston. Salzburg’s EC Red Bull team was unable to answer back, giving the Force a 4-2 victory in their first exhibition game at Scheels Arena this year. Goaltenders Robbie Beydoun and Blake Weyrick split the time in net tonight.

Overall, Eades was happy with what he saw from new and returning players but also stated that there are a lot of things to work on this time of the year, primarily getting the players conditioned and ready to play full games. Eades said, “We like to really play a fast aggressive game and it’s really tough to duplicate that during the summer and in practice.” He was also happy for the opportunity for inexperienced players to get some ice time and play a good opponent that challenged players to reach their full capabilities.

The next game is the home opener on Friday, September 25th at 7:05pm at Scheels Arena. Tickets are available at the Scheels Arena Box Office,, or the Tickets300 location on Broadway. Box office hours are Monday-Friday 11:00am-6:00pm.
