UPDATE: 24 FORMER FORCE PLAYERS APPEAR IN NCAA TOURNEY

The Fargo Force will be represented via 24 players on eight different teams in the 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey Tournament. The tournament begins Friday, March 27 and ends with the Frozen Four taking place April 9-11 in Boston, MA.

The extensive list of alumni includes:

Minnesota State-Mankato – Jordan Nelson, Chase Grant, Matt Leitner

University of Nebraska-Omaha – Austin Ortega, Brian Cooper, Ryan Massa, Tanner Lane

Miami (OH) – Taylor Richart, Jimmy Mullin

Yale – John Baiocco

University of Minnesota-Duluth – Alex Iafallo, Dominic Toninato, Willie Corrin, Austin Farley

University of North Dakota – Bryn Chyzyk, Zane McIntyre, Keaton Thompson, Colten St. Clair, Cam Johnson

Michigan Tech – Tanner Kero

St. Cloud State – Jonny Brodzinski, Nick Oliver, Joe Rehkamp, Jimmy Murray

 

Jordan Nelson, played in 109 total games for the Force in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. He is a forward who tallied 51 total points with 24 goals and 27 assists across the two seasons. He is in his second season with Mankato where he has appeared in 35 games this season and has 13 points (4g, 9a). Last season he played in 27 games and scored 5 goals and had 1 assist.

Chase Grant, who played for the Force from 2008 to 2010, was fifth on the team in scoring in 2008-09 with 28 points (10g, 18a) and fourth in scoring in 2009-10 with 50 points (28g, 22a). He played in 116 games across his two seasons with the Force. Grant is in his senior season at Mankato and has appeared in 159 total games and has tallied 68 total points (31g, 37a). This season alone he has 12 points (7g, 5a).

Matt Leitner, who also played for the Force in their first two seasons, was second on the team in scoring for the 2008-09 season with 57 points (14g, 43a) and led the team in scoring in the 2009-10 season with 66 points (25g, 41a). Leitner is in his senior season at Mankato and has posted 162 total points (49g, 113a). This season he leads the team in scoring with 41 points (9g, 32a).

Austin Ortega played for the Force in the 2012-13 season. He was the third overall in scoring for the team with 60 points total (34g, 26a). He is a sophomore at Nebraska-Omaha and is second on the team in scoring this season with 34 points (19g, 15a). Last season he tallied 19 points (9g, 10a).

Brian Cooper is a defenseman who was with the Force for the 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. Cooper played in 185 regular season and playoff games with the Force and had a total of 79 points (23g, 56a) across the three seasons. He is now a junior at Nebraska-Omaha where he has 27 points (7g, 20a) across the three seasons and has played in 105 games.

Ryan Massa, goalie, played for the Force from 2009 to 2011. He played in 33 games for the Force in 2009-10 with a record of 19-7-2, 3.18 goals against average and .896 save percentage. In 2010-11 he appeared in 33 games with a record of 19-9-4, 2.37 goals against average and .908 save percentage. Massa is a senior at Nebraksa-Omaha and has played in 26 games this season. He has a record of 12-7-6, 2.04 goals against average and .934 save percentage.

Tanner Lane played for the Force from 2010 to 2012. He’s a forward who scored 22 points (5g, 17a) across the two seasons. He is a junior at Nebraska-Omaha and has played in 97 games total and has 23 points (9g, 14a).

Taylor Richart was with the Force in the 2011-12 season. He is a defenseman who appeared in 66 total games and tallied 16 points (7g, 9a). He is now a junior at Miami and has played in 98 games and posted 14 points (1g, 13a). Richart’s first collegiate goal came this season.

Jimmy Mullin was a forward for the Force in 2010-11 where he led the team in scoring with 60 points (23g, 37a). Mullin is red shirting this season due to injury but the past three seasons Mullin posted 47 total points (18g, 29a).

John Baiocco played for the Force from 2012 to 2014. He played in just 2 games in the 2012-13 season but played in 37 games in 2013-14 where he posted 22 points (9g, 13a). He is now a freshman forward at Yale where he has played in 21 games scoring 6 total points (4g, 2a).

Alex Iafallo was with the Force for two seasons from 2011-13. He played in 58 games in 2011-12 and was fourth on the team in scoring with 32 points (17g, 15a). In 2012-13 he tallied 43 points (20g, 23a). In his sophomore season with Minnesota-Duluth, Iafallo is tied with Dominic Toninato for second on the team in scoring with 25 points (8g, 17a) in 32 games played.

Dominic Toninato played in 4 games for the Force in the 2011-12 season and scored 1 goal. In the 2012-13 season he played in 64 games with the Force where he co-lead the team in scoring with 70 points (29g, 41a). He is a sophomore at Minnesota-Duluth where he and Iafallo are second on the team in scoring with 25 points. Toninato has 16 goals and 9 assists.

Willie Corrin played from 2010 to 2012 for the Force where he scored 39 total points (5g, 34a). He is now a junior defenseman at Minnesota-Duluth and has played in 31 games this season posting 3 goals and 5 assists.

Austin Farley played two seasons with the Force from 2010 to 2012. He scored 11 points (7g, 4a) in 33 games in 2010-11 then in 2011-12 he led the Force in scoring with 59 points (28g, 31a). He is now a junior at Minnesota-Duluth and is fourth on the team in scoring this season with 23 points (8g, 15a) in 38 games. Farley totals 74 points (31g, 43a) with the Bulldogs over his three seasons.

Bryn Chyzyk played in the 2011-12 season with the Force and was second in scoring with 49 points (28g, 21a). He is now playing for North Dakota and is in his third season. He has tallied 12 points this season (6g, 6a).

Zane McIntyre was Fargo’s goalie for two seasons from 2010 to 2012. In 2010-11 he had a record of 14-8-0, 2.23 goals against average and .908 save percentage. In 2011-12 he had a winning record of 26-16-4, 2.22 goals against average and .921 save percentage. He is now a junior at UND with a record of 27-9-3, 2.05 goals against average and .929 save percentage. McIntyre is one of the 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award.

Keaton Thompson played with the Fargo Force for part of the 2010-11 season. He is a defenseman and played in 13 games with the Force following his high school career. He is now in his sophomore season with UND where he has tallied 19 total points (6g, 13a) across the two years.

Colten St. Clair was with the Force for three seasons from 2008 to 2011. He played in 179 games total and scored 94 total points (48g, 46a). St. Clair redshirted his first season with UND and is now in his third season playing. He has played in 94 games and has 17 total points (8g, 9a).

Cam Johnson was a goalie for the Force from 2012 to 2014. In 2012-13 he appeared in 28 games with a 14-8-6 record, 3.10 goals against average and .908 save percentage. In 2013-14 he had a 2-14-3 record, 3.27 goals against average and .913 save percentage. He is in his freshman year at UND and has seen about 43 minutes of ice time but has a 0-0-0 record. 

Tanner Kero played for the Force in the 2010-11 season. He was third on the team in scoring with 37 points (14g, 23a). He is now a captain at Michigan Tech where he leads the team in scoring with 45 points (19g, 26a) in just 40 games. Over his four years he has tallied 110 points (54g, 56a). Kero is one of the 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award.

Jonny Brodzinkski played two seasons with the Force from 2010 to 2012. He played in 76 total games tallying 29 points (13g, 16a). He is now a junior at St. Cloud State and is the second leading scorer on the team with 37 points (20g, 17a). In his three seasons with the Huskies he has tallied 111 total points (63g, 48a).

Nick Oliver was with the Fargo Force for three seasons from 2008 to 2011. He scored 39 points (14g, 25a) throughout the three seasons with the Force. He is now a senior at St. Cloud where he has played in 143 games and has scored 19 points (7g, 12a) throughout the four years.

Joe Rehkamp played from 2009 to 2011 with the Force. He played in 110 games over the two seasons and tallied 23 total points (9g, 14a). He is now a senior at St. Cloud and has scored 29 total points (8g, 21a).

Jimmy Murray played in 33 games with the Force in the 2010-11 season. He tallied 12 total points (4g, 8a). Murrary is in his junior season with St. Cloud State and has 15 points (4g, 11a) in 35 games played this season. He has played in 113 total games with the Huskies and has 57 total points (22g, 35a).
