Fargo fell to Omaha 6-2 after a rough first period.

The Lancers were all over the Force in the first period. Ryan Donato got Omaha on the scoreboard just 21 seconds into the game on their first shot on goal.

A little over three minutes later, Steven Spinner scored for Omaha and they were quickly up 2-0.

Nick Rivera then made it a 3-0 game with 11:39 remaining in the first period.

Mathias Israelsson then entered the game, replacing Robbie Beydoun in net for the Force.

Nick Rivera was at it again six minutes later for the Lancers when he scored a shorthanded goal. Israelsson was behind the net trying to clear the puck out when Rivera stole it away and scored in the empty net.

1:28 before the period ended, Nash Worden got it off the rebound and gave the Lancers the 5-0 lead.

The Force were quick to begin their comeback when Mason Morelli scored just 19 seconds into the second period. Austin Pooley assisted the goal.

Both the Lancers and the Force had two power play opportunities later in the second period but the Force were the only team able to capitalize on the man-advantage.

With just 6.1 seconds remaining in the period, Alec Marsh was able to break away for traffic on the power play and score to make it a 5-2 game. Justin Baudry and TJ Roo both assisted the goal.

The trend of scoring early in the period continued in the third period, this time in Omaha’s favor.

Nick Rivera scored his third goal of the night just 45 seconds into the period to give the Lancers a 6-2 lead and seal the win.

The Force had seven shots on goal throughout the rest of the third but nothing got past Lancers’ goalie Kris Oldham, who ended the night with 19 saves.

Fargo takes on Omaha again tomorrow night for Family Fun Night where Batman will be in appearance.
