FARGO, ND – The Fargo Force have named Nick Oliver as the new Head Coach.

Oliver comes to Fargo with USHL coaching experience, having served as Assistant Coach/Director of Scouting for the Sioux Falls Stampede from 2015-18. Since then, he has served as the Assistant Coach for the St. Cloud State Huskies, helping lead the team to an 81-44-9 record.

In his time as Assistant Coach, Oliver helped lead the Huskies to a Spencer Penrose NCHC regular season championship and the top seed in the 2019 NCAA Division I Tournament, followed by an NCAA Frozen Four appearance, the second in team history, and St Cloud’s first-ever NCAA National Championship Game appearance where they finished as runner-up.

“We are excited to have Nick back in Fargo,” said Fargo Force President Jon Kram. “He is a strong leader who has played at all levels which gives him a unique perspective of the game. It’s always great to see former players succeed and we can’t wait to see what Nick does here with the Force.”

Prior to coaching, the Roseau, MN native played with the Force from 2009-11, serving as Alternate Captain during his final season. While in Fargo Nick helped the Force secure the team’s first ever Western Conference Championship and a second-place finish in the Clark Cup finals. Following his 2 years with the Force he played D1 College Hockey with the SCSU Huskies serving as Alternate Captain his junior year and Captain his senior year.

As a leader on the team, he helped lead SCSU to a first-place finish in the 2012-13 WCHA regular season along with an NCAA Division I Midwest Region title in 2013 and a trip to the NCAA Division I Frozen Four. His junior year he helped lead the team to a NCHC regular season championship and in 2015 Oliver received the NCHC’s Sportsmanship Award recipient.

“My family and I are humbled and honored for the opportunity to be the next Head Coach of the Fargo Force,” commented Nick. “This organization has always been a special place for me and I’m excited to call Fargo home. I can’t wait to connect with our players and get started.”
