The Fargo Force (8-12-3-1; 20pts) are closing out the 2021 calendar year and ringing in 2022 with 2 games vs. the Sioux Falls Stampede (10-13-0-1; 21pts) this weekend. Starting off with a New Year’s Eve Bash in Fargo on Friday night at 6:05pm CT followed by a New Year’s Day matchup in Sioux Falls on Saturday at 6:05pm CT.

After 18 days off the Force return to play on Friday for the first time since December 17th. After going 3-1-1-0 in the last 5 games the Force will look to continue building that momentum and head into the New Year with another win under their belt.

The Force have matched up against the Stampede just once so far this season, a lone goal from Sioux Falls alternate captain Garrett Pinoniemi secured a 1-0 win for the Stampede in that game back on November 20th. Since then, the Force have gone 4-4-1-0 and the Stampede have gone 5-3-0-1.

The Force are led by forwards Bret Link (9G-7A) and Cole Knuble (7G-9A). Link was on a hot streak before the break recording a 6-game point streak starting at the end of November and into mid-December, he’ll be a key player to watch for this weekend and the second half of the season.

Knuble has been a dynamic player on the offensive line all season long and was chosen this week to represent the Force in the prestigious BioSteel All-American Game, a showcase of the top US-born talent eligible for the 2022 NHL Draft.

Fargo defenseman Trevor Griebel has been huge on the blue line for the Force dishing out 14 assists in 19 games. Rounding out the defense netminder Louden Hogg has started the last four games for the Force. In those four games he’s gone 2-1-1-0 and recorded his first ever USHL shutout stopping 17/17 against the Waterloo BlackHawks on December 16th.

The Stampede are led by Garrett Pinoniemi (9G-9A) Blake Humphrey (6G-7A) and Daniel Russell (5G-6A). Goaltender Noah Grannan has started the last three games for the Stampede. In those three games he’s stopped 94/105 shots and gone 2-1-0-0.
