Similar to the night before Lincoln and Fargo headed into the third frame locked in at 2’s. But a penalty ridden third period wasn’t enough for either team to take the lead as the teams headed into overtime. This time it was the Stars who game out victorious with a goal at 1:59 in the 3-on-3 OT, sending the Force home with 3/4 possible points on the weekend.

The Stars took an early lead with a goal right after a long delay due to some loose glass from a big hit. Griffin Jurecki was the goal scorer for Lincoln, giving them a 1-0 lead at 4:13 in the first. Both teams had 3 minors each but neither team ever got the chance to play out the full PP as offsetting calls gave us multiple looks at 4v4 hockey in the opening frame. Period one came to a close with a 1-0 Stars lead and the Force leading in SOG 11-9.

The Moorhead native, Luke Gramer, tied up the game at 2:19 in the second period with a top shelf snipe from the blue line assisted by Cooper Gay and Tanner Walos. With 7 minutes remaining the Stars somehow snuck one past Hogg on a shorthanded opportunity after a flurry of action in front of the net. A charging call against the Starts at 16:06 sent the Force to another powerplay which Force captain Tyler Rollwagen took full advantage of. He sent one home off a crossing pass from Tomas Weis tying the game up at 2-2.

Period three saw five minor penalties against Lincoln and one against Fargo but neither team capitalized on their man advantage, sending the game to a 5 minutes 3 on 3 overtime.

1:25 into the OT Lincoln had a big chance to end the game with a penalty shot for Mason Marcellus. Marcellus fanned on his shot resulting in an offensive zone faceoff for the Stars that they took full advantage of, with a game winner from Joaquim Lemay just over 20 seconds later.

The Force secured 3/4 possible points this weekend and head back to home ice for games vs. the Waterloo Blackhawks on Thursday, December 16 (Cully’s Kids Night) and Friday, December 17 (Corgi Races). Tickets for both games can be purchased via or at the Scheels Arena Box Office!
