The Fargo Force (6-11-2-1; 15pts) make the trek to Nebraska this weekend for a pair of games vs. the Lincoln Stars (11-6-1-1; 24pts). The Force will take the ice in Lincoln for the second time this season at 7:05pm on Friday, Dec. 10 followed by another 7:05pm puck drop on Saturday, Dec. 11.

Last weekend the Force split a pair of games vs. the Des Moines Buccaneers, falling 2-4 on Friday, Dec. 3 followed by a 4-3 victory on Saturday at the Buccaneer arena.

Force forward Bret Link continued his hot streak this weekend scoring a goal in each game, extending his streak to a goal in each of the last 5 games. Link has been huge on the PK for the Force scoring 3 of his last 5 goals while the Force are shorthanded. Kyle Smolen had a big weekend in Des Moines as well scoring a goal in each game and adding an assist for a two-point game on Saturday.

Once again Trevor Griebel was big for the Force on the blue line, the Force assist leader now has an apple in each of the last four games. Fargo goaltender Louden Hogg stopped 25 of 28 in last Friday’s 2-4 loss and his partner between the pipes, Anton Castro, stopped 15/18 in Saturday’s 4-3 win.

The Force are currently 2-1 against the Stars this season, dropping their first matchup back on October 15, 4-2, and winning the next two, 5-4 on home ice and 4-2 at the Ice Box in November. The last time these two teams faced off Cole Knuble put up a pair of goals adding to his growing tally of points against the Stars. Combined with Bret Link the pair has put up a total of 9 points against the Stars so far this season.

Lincoln tallied two points last weekend as well with a 5-1 win over Sioux City on Dec. 3, and a 6-3 loss to Tri-City on Dec. 4. Stars forward Aidan Thompson (3G-18A) has been on a hot streak with 4 multipoint games in a row. He’s joined at the top of the point leaderboard by Dolton Norris (8G-12A) and Joaquim Lemay (2G-12A). The Stars’ goaltending duo is made up of Cameron Whitehead (6-1-1-0) who currently has a 2.27GAA and .926SV% and Kaidan Mbereko who’s 5-5-0-1 so far this season with a 2.99GAA and .902SV%.

Following this weekend’s games the Force return to home ice for Cully’s Kids Night on Thursday, Dec. 16 and Corgi Races on Dec. 17. Tickets can be purchased at
