The Fargo Force (4-8-2-1; 11pts) couldn’t get anything past the Stampede (5-10-0-0; 10pts) in tonight’s matchup, falling 1-0 to their South Dakota rivals and going 1-1 on the weekend.
The Force looked dominant in the first period, creating multiple opportunities and spending much of their time in the Stampede zone. No penalties in the opening frame left the teams even strength for the duration of the period. The Force outshot their opponents in the opening 20 minutes 10-4.
Period two saw the one and only goal scored in tonight’s game from Stampede forward Garrett Pinoniemi. He hammered home a rebound near the crease to give Sioux Falls a 1-0 lead. The Force fought off a pair of powerplays in the second frame followed by a man advantage of their own. However, neither team capitalized, closing out the second with the score locked at 1-0.
The Force had a few solid scoring opportunities in period three but couldn’t get anything past Stampede netminder Isak Posch, who recorded a 27 save shutout, his first SO of the 2021-22 season. With under a minute remaining the Force pulled Hogg for an extra skater but couldn’t get anything to land, falling to the Stampede 1-0 in regulation.
Following the games on the road this weekend the Force make a trip to Sioux City for a mid-week game on Wednesday and then return to Scheels arena for a game on Black Friday (all tickets are just $5!) and Honor Flight Night on Saturday, complete with a specialty puck drop, a specialty jersey auction and more!
