Tonight’s game was tied for most of the night but a Lancer goal with just over a minute remaining in the final frame secured Omaha a 4-3 win tonight in Fargo.
Omaha came out hot again in tonight’s matchup with two powerplay goals in the first seven minutes of the game. But tonight the Force answered back, Matt Crasa finally lit the lamp for Fargo with a goal at 11:08 in period one. He fired one home over the top of Lancer goalie Jakub Dobes thanks to a feed from Mason Salquist. With the dry streak finally broken Jeremy Davidson found the back of the net as well with just over three minutes remaining in the first period. Bear Hughes sent over a beauty of a pass on a 2v1 rush and Davidson sent it in top shelf tying up the game at two apiece to end the period.
The Lancers struck first in the second period as well, finding the net after a turnover from the Force in front of their own goal. Five minutes later the Force answered back with a big slapper from Trevor Griebel at the high point right out of a faceoff. The Force led in shots on goal in the second 14-7 but the period closed with the score tied at 3-3.
The third saw back and forth action with chances for both teams throughout the period but it was Omaha who finally scored. With 1:01remaining Ryan Lautenbach fired a shot from the slot that Fargo netminder Brennan Boynton stopped initially but it snuck through him, and was banged home by Zach Dubinsky giving the Lancers a 4-3 lead. The Force couldn’t find away to tie it with the goalie pulled, and Omaha came away with a big road victory.
