The Force kicked off the weekend with a big 4-1 win over Waterloo. A goal from Ryan Richardson in the first and the third, plus tallies from Cody Monds and Bear Hughes propelled Fargo to their fourth win over Waterloo, they are undefeated against the BlackHawks so far this season.
Cody Monds kicked off the scoring for Fargo just 1:14 into the first period. He fired one in through traffic from the high left side of the left shoulder of the Waterloo netminder. Seven minutes later Ryan Richardson put the Force up 2-0 thanks to a centering feed from Kyle Smolen. With 2:01 remaining the BlackHawks put up their first point of the game. After canceling penalties the teams late in the first the teams found themselves in a 4v4 situation. Fargo had a chance early in the penalty time but it was Waterloo who scored sending in a low shot off a rebound from the boards. Period one closed with a 2-1 Fargo lead, and the Force outshooting their opponents 11-6.
Period two saw another early goal for Fargo, this time it was Bear Hughes who backhanded one in off an assist from Cody Monds and Jeremy Davidson. The second was dominated by the Force, outshooting Waterloo 17-6. The remainder of the period remained scoreless and the Force headed into the third period with a 3-1 lead.
Six minutes into the third Ryan Richardson added his second goal of the game, he sent one in far side from the right circle thanks to a feed from Tyler Rollwagen. The Force outshot their opponents again in the third, this time 11-5, and came away with a big 4-1 win to kick off their three-game-road-weekend. Fargo is back in action again tomorrow night against their South Dakota rivals the Sioux Falls Stampede puck drop is at 7:05 PM.
