The 1st place Fargo Force, with a record of 26-15-2, play three games in three different arenas this weekend. The three game road trip kicks off with a Friday night matchup vs. the Waterloo Blackhawks (17-23-1; 35pts.) at Young Arena. On Saturday, the Force head to Sioux Falls to take on the Stampede (17-22-3-1; 38pts.), then close out the trip with a Sunday stop in Lincoln for an afternoon game vs. the Stars (13-24-2-1; 29pts.).
After dropping two home contests last weekend vs. the Sioux City Musketeers, the Force lead Tri-City in the standings has shrunk to just one point. Fargo will look to stay on top of the Western Conference and come away with some big road W’s this weekend, as playoff time draws near.
The Waterloo Blackhawks head into Friday night’s contest fresh off two big wins, one over Des Moines and the other an OT win over the Lincoln Stars. However, the Force have beaten Waterloo in all three matchups so far this season. The last time the two teams faced off was early February on Blackhawks home ice, the Force came away with a 3-2 victory in night one and a 2-1 victory in night two.
Sioux Falls and Fargo have met a total of nine times so far this season, and the Force have come out victorious in eight of them. Last time the two teams met was in early March, when the Force swept a two game series, scoring 12 goals and giving up only three. Fargo will look to repeat their winning ways against the Stampede this Saturday.
The Force and the Stars have faced off seven times this season and again, Fargo has only dropped one game. Both Fargo and Lincoln have an aggressive style of play that will likely be apparent in this Sunday afternoon’s matchup as the Force look to close out the month of March with a win.
Following this three-game road weekend the Force are back on home ice for two games vs. the Omaha Lancers, who are currently ranked third in the Western Conference, four points behind the leading Fargo Force.
