The Force came away with a big 4-1 victory over Sioux Falls in tonights contest, securing a sweep of the 2 game weekend series. 23 saves from Force goalie Brennan Boynton, as well as goals in every period gave Fargo the momentum they needed to secure the W.

Period one in night two of the weekend series had a very different feel than night one, remaining scoreless until just 4:28 remaining in the period. The first goal of the night came off a wicked top shelf snipe from Force captain Nick Strom. The period closed with a 1-point Force lead, and a one-point Fargo lead in SOG as well, with the Force up 10-9.

Fargo turned on the heat in the second scoring just 28 seconds into the period. Aaron Huglen, celebrating his 20th Birthday, fired in his third goal of the weekend off a centering pass from Tristan Broz. A little under five minutes later Sioux Falls scored their only goal of the night on a 5 on 3 powerpay thanks to Stampede newcomer, Cole Sillinger. The remainder of the period was scoreless, but the Force dominated in puck possession sending in 21 shots on goal compared to just 8 from Sioux Falls.

Halfway through period three, Matt Crasa gave the home team some breathing room, scoring from in tight off a nice crossing pass from Ryan Siedem. Sioux Falls saw more scoring opportunities in the third but were shut down by Fargo netminder Brennan Boynton, and strong penalty killing. With under a minute remaining Austin Wong fired in an empty netter, cementing a 4-1 Force win.

The Fargo Force improve to 24-12-2and remain at the top of the Western conference. The Force are back on home ice on Thursday March 11th for a one-off game vs. the Des Moines Buccaneers. Come cheer on the Force for “Thirsty Thursday,” dollar draft beers all night, and $5 tickets for college students! Puck drop is at 7:05 PM.
