Three goals from Tri-City in the second period created a deficit that Fargo just couldn’t overcome. The Force fell in the deciding game of the 3 game series tonight vs. Tri-City 5-2.
The Storm were the first to score in tonight’s matchup just 4:22 into the first period. Carter Mazur found the back of the net on a breakaway goal, giving Tri-City a 1-0 lead. At 7:20 Matt Crasa was sent to the box for high sticking giving Fargo four penalty minutes to kill. The Force made short work of the four-minute Tri-City powerplay and :15 second later they had a man advantage of their own. Tri City managed to kill off the Fargo power play as well closing out the period with a 1-0 lead.
Half-way through the middle period the Storm exploded for 3 goals in 7 minutes, while the Force couldn’t manage to get anything past Tri-City’s netminder, period two ended with a 4-0 lead for the visitors.
The Force showed no quit in the third period tallying a total 15 shots on goal to Tri-City’s 7. Trevor Griebel put Fargo on the board with 12:25 left to play cutting down the deficit to three. A little over two minutes later a puck behind the Force net took a bad bounce centering up right in front of Miller and giving the Storm capitalized to again lead by 4 . With 3:27 left, Austin Wong took matters into his own mitts and went coast to coast ripping one in to make the final score 5-2.
The Force are back again for two home games next weekend vs. the Des Moines Buccaneers, puck drop on Friday at 7:05 pm at Fargo’s Scheels Arena.
