Fargo took control early in tonights matchup against the Waterloo Blackhawks and never let up. 24 saves from goalie Andrew Miller and four goals from four players all contributed to tonights 4-2 Force win at Scheels Arena.
Tristan Broz got things going for the Force scoring the first goal of the night with only four minutes and 26 seconds remaining in period one. He roofed one shortside on a nice pass and screen from Ryan Richardson, giving Fargo a lead they would keep for the rest of the game. Two minutes later Jeremy Davidson scored for the Force, his sixth goal of the season, off an assist from Aaron Huglen. Period one ended with a 2-0 lead for Fargo, both teams sitting at nine shots on goal apiece.
Only one goal was scored during the second period from Waterloo forward Ryan O’Hara. Both teams had power play opportunities in the second, but neither could capitalize. At the end of the period Waterloo lead the Force in shots on goal 22 to 20 but Fargo held the lead at 2-1.
Fargo remained dominant in the third period scoring a pair of goals. The first from Erik Bargholtz, burying in a shot from Trevor Griebel. The second came on the powerplay as Cody Monds, scored his first goal of the season in his 1st game in a Force uniform. He was set up back door, on a nifty passing play by Aaron Huglen (his second assist of the night) and Matt Crasa. With a little over four minutes remaining Waterloo scored their second goal of the night but they couldn’t manage to close the gap.
The Fargo Force take their 12-3-2 record on the road this weekend for Saturday/Sunday games at Omaha and Sioux City.
