Tonight’s matchup between the Fargo Force and Sioux City Musketeers was a battle from start to finish. The intensity from both teams was evident from the very beginning, playing hard from the minute the puck hit the ice. Lots of penalties put the Force down players in the third period, contributing to tonight’s 6-3 loss.

The action didn’t take long to start in period one, Sioux City took an early lead scoring just 42 seconds into the first. Tyler Rollwagen tied things up for the Force as he scored on a one-handed backhander off a long pass from Ryan Siedem. Less than a minute later the Musketeers responded with a goal of their own, bring the score to 2-1. The Force ended the period with a 13-11 edge in shots on goal.

In the 2nd frame, a pair of Fargo penalties, one at 4:16 and the other at 5:28, gave the Musketeers a five on three advantage they capitalized on. Chase Bradley fired one in to give Sioux City a 3-1 lead, then a little under a minute later John Fusco found the back of the net, scoring their second power play goal of the period. Hudson Thornton gave the Force the spark they needed in period two during a Force powerplay. He scored his first goal of the season off a pass from Jeremy Davidson chipping away at the Musketeers 3 goal lead. At 3:16 Tyler Rollwagen shrunk that lead even more. He lit the lamp off a pretty wrap around goal bringing the score to 3-4.

Period three saw a multitude of penalties but Sioux Falls was the only team to capitalize on their man advantage. At 8:23 in the third Carter Loney scored the Musketeers third powerplay goal of the game, bringing the score to 5-3. Late in the period they scored again on an empty Fargo net, making the final score, Sioux City 6,  Fargo 3.

The Force have a busy week ahead of them, playing again on Thursday in Sioux Falls and then back on home ice vs. the Stampede this Saturday at 6:05 pm.
