The Force got off to a slow start in tonight’s matchup vs. the Minnesota Magicians As they found themselves down 2-0 only five minutes into the game. The Magicians 1st goal came only 30 seconds into period one, as Trevor Kukkoren tucked one in 5-hole on a breakaway. The visitors increased their lead on the power play tally by Gavin Best. Despite their 17 shots on goal the Force came up empty handed in the first, ending the period down 2-0.
The second period got off to a hot start with Matt Crasa shooting a ringer off the post 1:16 into the period. He was assisted by Kyle Smolen and Jake Braccini. The rest of the period was highlighted by a multitude of penalties on both sides of the ice. However neither team could capitalize on the power-play but that wasn’t for lack of trying. Despite the Force outshooting their opponent 41-8 after 2 periods, they found themselves down 2-1 at the end of the second.
Jack Peart tied things up on a Force power-play with a goal four minutes into the third. He was assisted by Tristan Broz and Ryan Siedem. The Force continued their shooting onslaught with 56 SOG compared to the Magicians 16. The period ended at an even 2-2 as the teams headed into overtime.
After a breakaway from the Magicians right at the start of OT both teams settled in. Neither scored in OT bringing them into a shootout. The Magicians were the first to shoot and came up empty. Followed by Broz who ripped in the Force’s only goal of the shootout. The Magicians made their next two shots followed by a pair of misses from the Force. Ending the game with a score of 3-2. The goalie for the Magicians Andy Beran had an outstanding performance only allowing two goals off 59 shots.
The Force return to Scheels arena on November 6th for their regular season home opener vs. the Lincoln Stars.
