The Calgary Flames announced today that former defenseman, Colton Poolman has signed a one-year, entry-level contract with the Flames.

Poolman, an East Grand Forks, MN native spent his last four seasons with the University of North Dakota where he tallied a total of 75 points (18g, 57a) in the 146 games he skated in.

His junior career began in Fargo with the Force at the end of the 2013-14 season, where he caught action in 11 games. The following season he suited up for 46 matches, tallying 10 assists.

He then caught action in the BCHL in the 2015-16 season, as the assistant captain for the Penticton Vees, where in 57 games he totaled 40 points (3g, 37a).

Prior to juniors, Poolman led his team to a championship win in the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament, as he captained his hometown team, the East Grand Forks Green Wave to the victory over Hermantown.
